First let’s define underwriting and public radio. KTSU is a non-commercial (public) radio station serving the Houston community since 1972. KTSU has a small professional staff and many volunteers with on air or office responsibilities. Located on the campus of Texas Southern University, the radio station is licensed to the board of regents at TSU. In addition, students from the School of Communications at TSU utilize the KTSU studios as a training facility. Together they all strive to bring to the city of Houston the best in jazz, gospel, and other music genres as well as the finest news and programming.
Because we are a non-commercial radio station, we do not offer commercial advertising on our air waves, however, we do allow for underwriting as defined by the Federal Communications Commission. Underwriting announcements will tell our listeners who you are, what your product is, where they can find you and how they can contact you without getting into the world of hype, exaggeration or distortion, a factor that our faithful listeners appreciate.
